I have a Whirlpool Electric Range,Model # GR448LXPS0.Recently installed to fit tightly between two base cabinets(one on each side). There is a decorative mantel almost flush with top of back of stovetop(where control panel is).My problem is,when broiling or baking, after approx. 20 minutes, touchpad blanks out(no clock,nothing)..After cooling down, touchpad lights up (showing power failure indication)and range works until sequence is repeated.I pulled range from recess, removed back covers and inspected ,no obvious damage. I used the bake function far in excess of 20 minutes(with range away from wall and no obstructions above top...with covers still off)and touchpad did not blank out...seemed to work properly. My question is ..is there a temperature sensor on control board doing this? Could this problem be merely heat build-up behind range due to restricted airflow?

Sounds like something is causing overheating in the control area of the range, might take a look at the install manual for your unit, would hate to have expensive damage done to the range or worse, a fire in the cabinets around the unit...
