GE refrigeration service bulletin custom style poor door seal
REF27-03 Dec 2003 Consumer reports of frost in the freezer or sweating ,
or moisture in the area of the door gasket , can be
attributed to a poor door seal on the following
models:
PTC22MB
PTC22MF
PTC22SB
PTI22MB
PTI22MF
PTI22SF
The moisture will be most prevalent at the upper right corner of the freezer door or the lower left corner of the fresh food door. This may be caused by two of the ceramic magnets located behind the cabinet breaker being installed incorrectly. The affected magnets , shown in the illustration , were
reversed during assembly and create a magnetic repulsion , rather than an attraction with the door gasket. A magnet can be used to determine whether the polarity is correct.
A kit WR49X10088 has been developed to repair this condition. The kit includes replacement magnets and complete instructions. Follow the instructions
completely for an effective repair.
As always , a poor door seal can be attributed
to many factors. Make certain to check door
alignment , gasket condition , food location and
refrigerator leveling before ordering a kit.
